Tarragon General - Tarragon is a perennial herb
that thrives near water. It has a woody stem that reaches to about 1 meter (3
feet) high. The leaves are silver-green and covered with fine silky hairs and
pale yellow flowers. The name is derived from the Arabic word 'Tharkhoum'
and the Latin word 'Dracunculus' meaning 'little dragon' - probably because of
the way the root seems to coil up like a dragon.

Tarragon Oil Uses - Tarragon esential oil, Artimisia dracunculus, as claimed by aromatherapists, are as an anti-rheumatic, aperitif, digestive, deodorant,
emmenagogue, stimulant and vermifuge. There is also documentation indicating
that it may be a menstrual regulator. |

Tarragon oil, Artimisia dracunculus, blends well with
the following essential oils: lavender,
pine and Basil. Success blending may
also take place with spice oils

Tarragon Oil Cautions - Tarragon essential oil, Artimisia dracunculus, is a
non-irritant and non-sensitizing essential oil. Nonetheless, it can be
moderately toxic due to the methyl chavicol in the oil. Therefore, it should be
used in dilution and avoided completely during pregnancy.

Never use therapeutic quality Essential Oils as a substitute for necessary medical care. Keep oils tightly closed and out of reach of children. Never ingest undiluted essential oils. Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Dilute oils with vegetable oils, one to three drops per tablespoon. Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes. Skin test oils before using. Dilute a small amount and apply to the skin of your inner arm or back of knee. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. If redness, burning, itching or irritation occur, stop using oil immediately. Use less rather than more.
