Cocoa Oil -
The cacao plant was first given its botanical name by
Swedish natural scientist Carolus Linnaeus in his original
classification of the plant kingdom, who called it Theobroma
("food of the gods") cacao. The cacao tree is native to the
Americas and was considered an important commodity in
Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. Spanish chroniclers of the
conquest of Mexico by Hernán Cortés relate that when
Montezuma II, emperor of the Aztecs, dined he took no other
beverage than chocolate.

Cocoa Absolute Oil Cautions -
No known toxicity. Use well diluted. High doses may trigger
skin reactions in sensitive individuals. It is important to
note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by
nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless
you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those
trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend
they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of
the fragrance - particularly the rare and exotic notes -
becomes lost.

Cocoa common Uses: Cocoa is known to
contain valuable anti-oxidants and is reported to assist
with sluggish circulation as well as promoting softer, more
youthful skin. Anti-oxidants aid in protecting the cells,
collagen and elastin from damage caused by free radicals
found in our environment. Cocoa has also been used
throughout history as an aphrodisiac. This may be due to the
positive effects of flavonols - active constituents
naturally found in cacao. Cocoa Absolute is perfect for
addition to creams, lotions, facial masks and body
treatments.
