General - Scots Pine A tall evergreen tree, up to 40m high with a flat crown. It has a reddish-brown, deeply fissured bark, long stiff needles that grow in pairs, and pointed brown cones. Essential oil is obtained from steam distillation of the needles.

Uses - Scots Pine essential oil, Pinus sylvestris, is steam distilled from the needles, it has the pine scent that people are familiar with. It is
strongly antiseptic as well as killing germs in household cleansers. As a disinfectant and an infection fighter, pine is also very good in a penetrating liniment for sore
muscles or joints. A preparation made from needles has been used for bladder, kidney and rheumatic complaints as a liniment for rheumatism
and muscular pain, and as an inhalant for bronchitis, catarrh, colds, etc.

Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil Safety
Never use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils as a substitute for necessary medical care. Keep oils tightly closed and out of reach of children. Never ingest undiluted essential oils. Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Dilute oils with vegetable oils, one to three drops per tablespoon. Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes. Skin test oils before using. Dilute a small amount and apply to the skin of your inner arm or back of knee. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. If redness, burning, itching or irritation occur, stop using oil immediately. Use less rather than more.
