bullet General - The ravensare tree is 20 meters high with several buttress roots at the base. Reddish bark and strongly aromatic simple, elliptical leaves. It is easily distinguished by its small green flowers (of 2mm length). It is an endemic plant of Madagascar, and is referred to as "the oil that heals". Ravensare is abundant in the humid central eastern rain forest of Madagascar between 700 and 1000 meters altitude. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the leaf.

bullet Uses - Ravensare essential oil, Ravensara aromatica,  is used for respiratory problems, cuts, wounds, liver and lung infections, rhinopharyngitis, flu, sinusitis, viral hepatitis, cholera, herpes, mononucleosis, insomnia, muscle fatigue, frigidity, headaches, nausea, nervous tension, colds, coughs, fever, cold sores, shingles and burns. Ravensare has been used in Madagascar for generations for its tonic and anti-viral properties, its essential oil, has moreover, proved to be a great anti-stress. It is well known as an active virus and retrovirus fighter and for recovering healthy breathing . It is ideal for use in an aerosol: to disinfect a room which might have been contaminated. Slightly medicinal, eucalyptus-like, slightly sweet with a fruity hint.

bullet Ravensara essential oil, Ravensara aromatica, blends well with the following essential oils:  bay, bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, clary sage, cedarwood, cypress, eucalyptus, Geranium frankincense, ginger, grapefruit, lavender, marjoram, pine, rosemary sandalwood, Tea Tree, thyme and lemon.

Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil Safety
Never use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils as a substitute for necessary medical care. Keep oils tightly closed and out of reach of children. Never ingest undiluted essential oils. Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Dilute oils with vegetable oils, one to three drops per tablespoon. Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes. Skin test oils before using. Dilute a small amount and apply to the skin of your inner arm or back of knee. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. If redness, burning, itching or irritation occur, stop using oil immediately. Use less rather than more.
