bullet General - Sandalwood is a small evergreen, parasitic tree up to 9m high with brown-grey trunk and many smooth, slender branches. It has leathery leaves and small pinky-purple flowers. The tree must be over 30 years old before it is ready for the production of sandalwood oil. The essential oil is obtained by water or steam distillation from the roots and heartwood, powdered and dried. Sandalwood is one of the oldest known perfume materials, with at least 4,000 years of uninterrupted use. It is used as a traditional incense, as a cosmetic, perfume and embalming material all over the East.

bullet Uses - Sandalwood Mysore essential oil,  Santalum album, has a soft, warm, woody, earthy, balsamic scent that many feel contain aphrodisiac qualities. Many individuals find that sandalwood has calming and soothing effects that help reduce stress and alleviate anxiety. Often used to enhance meditation. Sandalwood is renowned best for its balancing effect on the nervous system, gently soothing away anxiety and tension. Brings peace and tranquility to the troubled soul. Commonly used in perfumes. Exotic and seductive, Sandalwood is known for its ability to relax and soothe the mind is an aphrodisiac and is helpful for problems of frigidity and impotence.

Never use Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils as a substitute for necessary medical care. Keep oils tightly closed and out of reach of children. Never ingest undiluted essential oils. Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Dilute oils with vegetable oils, one to three drops per tablespoon. Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes. Skin test oils before using. Dilute a small amount and apply to the skin of your inner arm or back of knee. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. If redness, burning, itching or irritation occur, stop using oil immediately. Use less rather than more.
